I started Oct 9th, 2017.
It’s been a remarkable year of achieving goals, fear and everything in between. Here are the key things I’ve taken away from my experience so far.
When I first started, I was sure they’d come to realize that I’d pulled a fast one on them. They’d see that I wasn’t good or competent enough to work there.
‘Star Syndrome’ with a reasonable hint of humility.
Fast forward one year, I performed just as well as any other associate in my class. I worked on some of the biggest engagements in the Atlanta Office. I certainly deserve to be here.
However, by virtue of my being very hard on myself and pushing my limits, I’m very aware of the fact that I only know so very little. Thus my quest for knowledge and self-improvement will continue.
Do I have any advice for the new grads starting out in their careers?
I absolutely do not! 🤷🏾♂️
No advice I read or heard made me feel any better while I grappled with my doubts. Your epiphanies will come when they come.
In the meantime, live your best life outside of work – time flies, work is a given and you can never give or receive enough love.
